40G Ethernet is very common in data centers nowadays. With the rise of 40GbE QSFP+ optical module market, more solutions can be applied, users also have more choices. Let’s take a deep understanding of the interconnection solutions of 40G optical networks.

In data centers, optical modules are generally used to connect switches and servers for data exchange and transmission. For the interconnection between 40G and 40G, there are 3 options for Network communication project providers.


Solution 1: 40G QSFP+ module + patch cord + 40G QSFP+ module


Solution 2: 40G QSFP+ to 40G QSFP+ DAC Cable

The common use of DAC is passive copper, 40G QSFP+ DAC is the one. For the cheaper price and higher transmission speed of passive copper cable, it becomes the best service solution of realizing the short distance transmission.

Solution 3: 40G QSFP+ to 40G QSFP+ AOC Cable


Active Optical Cable = two optical transceivers + optical patch cord

Most customers will focus on the cost when purchase products. Which is the best solution to save money for customers?
※ If the interconnection distance between the two devices is less than 7m, proposed solutions 2. It can control the cost of the hardware well and bring you a huge profit space. One set just takes between 350RMB to 500RMB.
