40G QSFP+ Optical Module introduction

Cloud computing and big data are booming in my country. In order to provide enough bandwidth, many access switches have been developed to aggregation/core switches that can connect to 40G Ethernet. 40G networks have been widely used in data centers, and optical modules are one of the indispensable components for data center equipment interconnection, so ETU-LINK will give you an inventory of the types of 40G QSFP+ optical modules.

 

40G QSFP+ SR4 optical module

This module is an MPO connector with a working wavelength of 850nm. When used with OM3 multimode fiber, the transmission distance can reach up to 100m; when used with OM4 multimode fiber, the transmission distance can reach 150m, which is often used in data centers. 40G SR4 can not only use MPO fiber jumper to realize the connection between two 40G network devices, but also can be used with MPO-LC fiber jumper to realize the connection between 40G network equipment and 10G network equipment.



40G QSFP+ BiDi optical module

The interface type of the 40G QSFP+ BiDi optical module is a dual-fiber LC interface. The working wavelengths are 850nm and 900nm. There are two bidirectional channels. The transmission rate of each channel is 20G. Optical signals of different wavelengths on a mode fiber. When used with duplex LC-LC OM3 multimode fiber patch cords, the maximum transmission distance is 100 meters; when used with duplex LC-LC OM4 multimode fiber patch cords, the maximum transmission distance is 150 meters.

 

40G QSFP+ ESR4 optical module

The optical module adopts a 4-channel 850nm VCSEL array and a PIN photodetector array, which complies with QSFP+ MSA and IEEE 802.3ba 40GBASE-ESR4 Ethernet standards, and is also compatible with IEEE 802.3ae 10GBASE-SR Ethernet standards. The interface type is MPO, through OM3/ The transmission distance of OM4 multimode fiber can be up to 300m or 400m.

 

40G QSFP+ PSM4 optical module

The module is an MPO connector with a working wavelength of 1310nm, and the transmission distance can be up to 2/10km when used with single-mode fiber OS2. It is widely used in 40G Ethernet, Fibre Channel and PCIe interconnect solutions.

 

40G QSFP+ IR4 optical module

40G QSFP+ CWDM IR4 optical module adopts TFF multiplexer and demultiplexer, 4-channel 10G NRZ wavelength division multiplexing technology (CWDM4), its working wavelength is 1270, 1290, 1310, 1330nm, the interface type is duplex LC, through Access to single-mode fiber jumpers, the longest transmission distance can reach 2km.

 

ETU-LINK 40G QSFP+ CWDM IR4 optical module (EQxx4X-3LCD2) is equipped with 4-channel uncooled CWDM FP laser and highly sensitive PIN-TIA, with a maximum rate of up to 41.25Gbps, in line with QSFP+ MSA and IEEE 802.3ba 40GBASE-LR4 Ethernet standards . The operating temperature range is 0°C-70°C, the power supply voltage is 3.3V, and it meets the RoHS environmental protection standard (lead-free). 40G QSFP+ CWDM IR4 optical modules can be applied to 40GBASE-LR4 Ethernet and OTN OTU3 links.

 

40G QSFP+ LX4 optical module

The 40G QSFP+ LX4 optical module adopts CWDM wavelength division multiplexing technology, its working wavelengths are 1271nm, 1291nm, 1311nm, 1331nm, and there are four transmit channels and receive channels. 150 meters; if using single-mode fiber jumpers for transmission, the maximum distance can be 2 kilometers.



40G QSFP+ LR4 optical module

The module is an LC connector with operating wavelengths of 1271nm, 1291nm, 1311nm, and 1331nm. The transmission distance can be up to 10km when used with single-mode fiber OS2. It is mainly used to realize long-distance connection between data center network devices.


40G QSFP+ ER4 optical module

The module is an LC connector with central wavelengths of 1271nm, 1291nm, 1311nm, and 1331nm. It is generally used with single-mode jumper OS2 for data centers and metropolitan optical transmission networks, with a transmission distance of up to 40KM.
